It was intended to leave small manufacturers Parisian prevailing economic slump. Today, this invention contest is open to all, including exhibitions of intellectual or industrial property.1 Its aim is to reward original inventions. In more than a century, many valuable inventions have won awards, such as ballpoint pen, the two-stroke engine, the variable pitch propeller, contact lenses are among the most famous examples.
