This video collection is created to show the forearm and wrist exercise workouts, as well as get you more familiar with Bison-1 training and performance. The intensity of the exercises in the wrist and forearm videos will depend on the level of resistance set on your Bison-1 and can be changed depending on the purpose of the workouts. Bison Video #1: Sotsky's Nail Knot

Bison-1 Sotsky's Presentation - Sotsky's Nail Knot

Nikolai Sotsky is a Ph. D, Dean of the Bio-Mechanics College at the University of Minsk, Belarus. Dr. Sotsky invented Bison-1, personal strength exerciser, in 1992, which has rapidly spread around Europe due to its efficiency for forearm and wrist strengthening. In this video Nikolai Sotsky presents Bison-1 (older model) and demonstrates what anyone using Bison-1 can reach - tying, what became famous as Sotsky Knot (2:35), - a knot from two nails of 1/4 in. in diameter and 8 in. in length. Remember that about 99.5% of all people cannot even budge one of these nails, and Dr. Sotsky is over 50 years old.

The first complex of Bison-1 strength workout series presented by Vasiliy Fomichev, Bison Strength Equipment - General Introductory. The workout should be repeated daily for two weeks, with one set per exercise, and 25 repetitions per set. Remember that resistance is chosen individually! The purpose is the general forearm strength development in forearms. Check out the ...

Such breaks combined with intense 25 rep-sets are the key to reaching the five to seven times more effective workouts compared to other alternatives. Please refer to the Bison Blog or Discussion Board for questions and answers concerning exercises and workout complexes with Bison-1. The custom more advanced workouts for specific sport types are coming soon. Although, the future more advanced workouts are even more effective, it is essential to go through all the beginner complexes in order to prepare the forearm muscles for the dramatically increased load of the advanced workouts.

Bison Video #3: Arm and Forearm Stretching

Arm and Forearm Stretching

Stretching arms before working out with Bison-1, presented by Vasiliy Fomichev, Bison Strength Equipment.

Stretching before physical exercising does the following things:
  1. improves the blood flow
  2. improves coordination
  3. improves stability
  4. decreases injuries
  5. decreases muscle warm-up imbalances (dynamic stretching)
  6. flushes out acids (dynamic stretching)
  7. gives muscles more flexibility to move freely

There are two types of stretching that are required for maximum performance:

  • static stretching - mostly used for basic muscle stretching to increase flexibility. The idea is to hold the stretch with low force for a set period of time. During this type of stretching it is important to not put too much pressure, as you may injure your muscles and tendons, and rather keeping it moderate, and breathing deeply to allow more oxygen to flow in the blood to help repair muscle cells damaged during the workout.
  • dynamic stretching - this type of stretching is based on gradually increasing the amplitude of stretch distance by repeating the stretch motion, or warming up muscles to regain their flexibility. Arm and leg swings and other rotations in joints fall into this category.

The arm stretching presented in the video is very quick and effective. It combines static, as well as dynamic elements, with slight resistance, while using Bison-1 equipment. The slight resistance in stretching does not only warm up the muscles better, it wakes them up; this strategy eliminates the first "warm up round of the upcoming exercises, with decreased weight, which is performed incorrectly by most people at the gym (trainees on average use to much weight).

Bison Video #6: Quick Resting Between Sets (~15 secs.) - Muscle Tension Release

Quick Resting Between Sets (~15 secs.) - Muscle Tension Release

The best way to release muscle tension in forearms during Bison-1 workouts 15 sec. rests, presented by Vasiliy Fomichev, Bison Strength Equipment.

The quick breaks during the workouts are done with a purpose of creating power workouts, without complete muscle regeneration between sets; this is the key to the efficiency and short time of workout complexes. The video presents the most effective and focused way to release built up forearm muscle tension. Shaking your hands relaxes muscles; keeping hands above the head increases the blood outflow, releasing the built up pressure. The overall result is a much faster decrease of muscle tension and pressure, versus a basic passive rest.

Bison Video #7: Load Adjustment

Load Adjustment

A quick personal tip on the easiest way to adjust the load/resistance on your Bison-1, the forearm strength equipment, presented by Vasiliy Fomichev, Bison Strength Equipment.

Load adjustment procedure:

  1. Release the lock-nuts by twisting then in the direction toward the center
  2. Start twisting the end rings simultaneously in the desired direction (towards the + sign to tighten and towards the - sign to loosen). As long as both rings are twisting with the same ease at the same time - the load on both sides is equal.
  3. Test the load to make sure it is optimal for the exercise, and make any additional load adjustments necessary.
  4. Tighten the lock nuts, making sure to get the locking notches in the groves of the tightening rings.

Bison Video #8: Bison-1 Cleaning

Bison-1 Cleaning

Quick and easy process of cleaning Bison-1, the forearm strength exerciser, presented by Vasiliy Fomichev, Bison Strength Equipment.

Cleaning procedure:

  1. Release both lock-nuts, if necessary, and take off the side tightening rights by untwisting them
  2. Take out the metal block
  3. Take out the plugs and ball joints by pushing handles through the tightening rings on both dismounted sides
  4. Wipe the surfaces participating in friction: the ball joint and the plug with dry and clean cloth, napkin, or paper towel
  5. Put the handles back through the tightening rings, put the plug, and the metal block on top
  6. Twist the tightening rings back on the center core piece

The only time when you want to take Bison-1 apart is when you start hearing squeaking noise during the exercises or about once every other month for regular maintenance during active use. The squeaking sound is generally due to an invisible thin layer of moisture that usually builds up due to humidity of the workout environment or sweaty palms being held close to the ball joints. Since moisture is the reason for squeaking, make sure to only use dry and clean cloth, napkins, or paper towels that you do not mind to get dirty. As the shown in the video, the leaning process is very quick and painless. Please refer to the discussion board if you have additional questions about Bison-1 cleaning.
